Hi guys
How is everyone? I hope you're all doing ok.
I was thinking of sending a letter to the UK Government Department for Education and Skills - to raise awareness of dyscalculia. I was thinking we could get a list of names, like as in virtual signatures so they realise how many people in the UK actually have dyscalculia. This might make them change their teaching methods or at least help the kids in school who have dyscalculia (whether the kids realise they have it or not).
I also thought you guys in Europe, Australia and Canada or wherever you live could try this with your governments too?
If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions I'm open to ideas.
Thanks
P.S To Mette, Geoff and Countess - could this post be made sticky please?

Thanks for making this sticky. Anybody in the UK want to put their name down for this?

yep, absolutely- am appalled at the complete lack of provision (our area doesnt have a single special needs person with dyscalculia experience)

Yes, I'd say that a year and a half is "a bit of a time lag" between volunteers. At this rate, maybe in about 10 years you'll have 7 or 8 people agreeing to do this? Also, Bubble hasn't visited the forum (as a logged in member) since 12/27/07. And she didn't leave us an email. Admin could probably find her if they wanted to. - jus' |

Its a shame shes not around as she was clearly very pro active about the issue. If this re-ignites then my name is available. |

Yep! Count me in Bubble, there is a extreme lav=ck of awareness in the UK, worse still if your student. |
